Lolita Glasses
Monday, January 4, 2010 in Food, Tools and Goodies
I make it a point not to talk about work here. Mainly because I could get myself in big trouble if I talked about work here. Not that I'm doing some top-secret life-saving work – far from it – but mostly because I just plain prefer to keep my job and you never know what's going to get you into trouble. I'm sure you understand. And besides, I'm pretty sure I'd bore you out of your skull.
This week, in a last-minute development, this job of which I speak is taking me from the west coast to the east. And so, my moonlighting gig as a cooking and decorating domestic wanna-be-diva and blogstress is being cut to nada. Wah!
But I've got a couple recipes, a project, and a really cool gift idea in my back pocket, so you'll still see new stories here at The Hazel Bloom even while I'm mostly away.
Today? The really cool gift idea: Hand-Painted Lolita Glasses.
My wonderful friend Vicki (hereafter known as Vix) discovered these glasses when she received one of the wine glasses at her baby shower a couple of years ago, and has been giving them as gifts ever since. Her theme? New Mommy.
They're hand-painted with a zillion different themes, and they're so perfectly and sometimes tackily awesome that I just love 'em.
The first I saw was when Vix gave one to our friend Laurie for her birthday. Laurie got "Wild Child," complete with animal print and feathers around the base. So hilarious. So awesome.
For Christmas, I finally got my own (thanks Vix!) It's flip-flop theme! Love it.
Some of the flip flops even have little rhinestones glued to them.
And the wine glasses have a cocktail recipe painted on the bottom!
When I try mine, I'll definitely have to report on it.
There are a ton of Lolita products – martini glasses, ice cream bowls, coffee glasses – and even pilsner glasses. Vix and her hubby gave my guy a golf-themed one for his birthday.
When I get back from Atlanta and settle back into moonlighting aspiring domestic diva-hood, I think I'll have to celebrate with a Flip Flop cocktail in my shiny new Flip Flop Lolita glass.
