Cheater Meyer Lemon Rolls
Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Breads, Breakfast, Chicks Dig It, Dessert, Food, Fruit, Kid Friendly, Vegetarian
So they’re a bit of a cheat – they use refrigerator crescent rolls. They’re also really, really delicious. The sauce creates a tart, lemony-orange caramel on the bottom of the rolls, and the zest settles into the cracks along the top.
Meyer Lemon Cake Bars
Monday, January 16, 2012 in Dessert, Food, Fruit, Vegetarian
A delicious cross between a brownie and snack cake. They’re dense with a large crumb, super-moist, buttery, rich, and the perfect balance of lemony-sweet. The tangy glaze is the cherry on top.
Melissa Etheridge Salad (Avocado, Warmed Feta & Baby Greens Salad) + A Baby!
Monday, January 9, 2012 in Chicks Dig It, Food, Soups and Salads, Vegetarian
Feta warmed with torn bread crumbs and creamy avocado over mixed baby greens, sprinkled with fresh lemon juice and olive oil. Delicious. Plus a bonus photo of our new baby!

Delicious, moist lemon-buttermilk cupcakes filled with good raspberry jam, topped with a simply amazing vanilla bean buttercream then plopped with a fresh raspberry to hint at what will be found inside.
Frosty Gingerbread Tree Cookies with Lemon Icing
Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Dessert, Food, Holidays, Vegetarian
This gingerbread cookie recipe from Martha Stewart is a definite winner. Perfectly spiced gingerbread cut into tree shapes, then glazed with a little lemon and powdered sugar mixture and then sprinkled with coarse sugar for a little extra sparkle … this is one case where it’s okay to see the forest for the trees. (I never really understood what that meant, anyway.)
Lemon Cake
Friday, August 6, 2010 in Dessert, Food
There’s a well-known new book out there called The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. The premise? The narrator, when eating a dish, can detect the emotions of the person who prepared the dish.
Weird.
I haven’t read it, so I can’t really say much more about it. But since I heard about it, I’ve idly wondered what would pop up when people eat my food. Would people take a bite and [...]
Rummy Lemonade with Peppermint Swizzle Sticks
Thursday, June 17, 2010 in Drinks, Food
I'm not a morning person. Case in point: Just a couple of minutes ago, I put some cream in a mug and poured in some nice strong coffee. My first cup of coffee for the morning. I grabbed it and meandered (okay, stumbled) over to the couch and set it down on the table… right [...]

One thing an aspiring blogger quickly realizes is that there are a lot of folks out there doing an amaaaazing job at this blogging thing. Many are very well-known, and rightfully so. Wonderful writing, beautiful photos, creativity I can only dream of – and no lack of sheer perseverance, I'm sure. I'm so often in [...]

Lord oh lord. It's divine. You should try these. Really. Lemon Sandwich Cookies Yield: 5-6 dozen sandwich cookies Cookies (Dolly Parton's Sugar [...]
Dolly Parton’s Sugar Cookie Recipe
Thursday, December 10, 2009 in Dessert, Food, Holidays, Kid Friendly, Vegetarian
I have no idea if this recipe truly originates from Dolly, but if it did, thank you Dolly! Not only are you a super cool chick, but you gave me my go-to recipe for sugar cookies for going on probably 10 years now. I happened across this fab recipe while googling – heck, maybe I [...]
Lemon Bars
Monday, November 23, 2009 in Dessert, Food, Gruntworthy for Guys, Vegetarian
While searching for a great lemon bar recipe, I found that people are very, very, very particular about theirs. "Can't be too sweet!" "Can't be too tart!" "How in tarnation can a lemon bar recipe have so much flour in the lemon curd?! Blasphemy!" Stuff like that. Me, I just like a good lemon bar. [...]
